Blame Love

from Only One Life by peter zeldow

/

about

If you turn to page 463 of Richard Russo's 2007 novel, "Bridge of Sighs," you will see precisely where the inspiration (and some of the lyrics) to this song came from. So much truth in those opening lines: "There are ghosts and phantoms, There's only one life...that is real."

lyrics

There are ghosts and phantoms but only one life
Only one life that is real
With imperfect angels and runaway brides
No matter how desperate we feel

I've got my reason, my wild intuition
The juxtaposition won't jell
Constant craving is so inefficient, Never sufficient to tell

And again and again our hearts are refilled
And again and again they are shattered
Will it ever let up? Will it ever let up?
It will never let up, Blame love

A band of outlaws is steadily rising along a horizon of gray
Shadows looming, strange premonition
Human condition today

Chorus

Repeat first verse

about

peter zeldow Chicago, Illinois

Songs that hover around folk, rock & country genres with a mostly gentle, acoustic guitar-based mid-60s sound. The themes are universal: love (Jerome, You Are True), loss (Go), desire (Hunger), memory (It All Comes Back), aging (Golden Years), empathy (Kindness), & gratitude (Grateful). The delivery is understated, but the storytelling packs an emotional wallop that rewards careful listening. ... more
