about

I did think I was finished writing songs. And then I realized that that itself could be the subject of a song. Then I decided I had not yet written anything in the key of F. Finally, I decided the album needed a song with an R&B groove. Photograph by Arnold Brower (www.arnoldbrower.com). Used by permission.

lyrics

Well I thought I was finished, no more love for me
Down for the count, More misery
But you came to the rescue with a lifeline or two
And I'm not close to finished with you

I thought I was finished, No more songs
Thought I was finished, I was wrong
The drought is all over, Rain has broke through
And I'm not close to finished with you

Sometimes the world is a desert, Where nothing can grow
Sometimes even in the desert, A rose is a rose is a rose

I thought I was finished, Thought I had my fill
Feeling diminished, Over the hill
You came to my rescue with a new point of view
Now I'm not close to finished with you.

The delivery is understated, but the storytelling packs an emotional wallop that rewards careful listening. ... more
