about

As I was writing this song, I needed a four-syllable phrase to complete the bridge of the song. Scanning the bookshelves in my living room from the couch, I came upon a book by a once popular science writer named Martin Gardner entitled "The Night Is Large." Those were precisely the four words that I needed.

lyrics

Now's the time for us to part, Break my heart and go
I have loved you from the start, Break my heart and go
The night is large, the dream is done
All that is reduced to one
I was blinded by the sun
Break my heart and go

Close your eyes and slip away, Break my heart and go
I'll survive another day, Break my heart and go
How I'd like to make you stay
How I'd like to make you pay
Movies never end this way
Break my heart and go
Break my heart and go

about

peter zeldow Chicago, Illinois

The delivery is understated, but the storytelling packs an emotional wallop that rewards careful listening. ... more
