Impartial Love

from Only One Life by peter zeldow

about

I wrote this one quickly, and I was quite excited about it at the time. I rarely play it anymore, although some people cite it as one of their favorites of my songs, I suspect because of Steve Dawson's great Hal Blaine-style drumming. lyrics

This is not a Sunday kind of love, More like a slow slow burn
Pulsing thru your arteries, bursting thru the veins
Then start all over again

This is not a sacred love, it starts way down below
Somewhere in the shadows, tangled to the roots
End of the day, you still don't know

And it's not gonna end, No it's not gonna end
It's not gonna end til the day it all ends

This is not a fairy tale love, too many tunnels and cracks
Morning monkey business and midnight monkey mind
And you can never go back, no you can never go back

And it's not gonna end....

This is not an impartial love, the stakes are simply too high
Love can't be indifferent when there's so much sacrifice
The price of being alive
The price of being alive

about

peter zeldow Chicago, Illinois

Songs that hover around folk, rock & country genres with a mostly gentle, acoustic guitar-based mid-60s sound. The delivery is understated, but the storytelling packs an emotional wallop that rewards careful listening. ... more
