We're In Love

from Things That Go Unsaid by peter zeldow

about

Sixty-seven seconds of vintage rock 'n roll to get the album started and to escape, for a moment, the break-up songs, confessionals and bittersweet story songs that are my typical stock in trade. The kind of song my high school British invasion band, the Crumpets, might have played when taking a break from our repertoire of Beatles, Stones and Searchers songs to revisit our late '50s roots.

lyrics

I'm not a saint or a machine, I'm not a hero on the TV screen
I'm just a man, You're just a woman
We're in love

Ain't got no class, I'm just a clown
Sometimes I'm up, sometimes I'm down
I'm just a man, You're just a woman
We're just in love

Well once upon a time I was useless and forelorn
Poison, full of envy, full of ridicule and scorn
Blinded by desire and devoured by the hate
All that disappeared the day I took you on a date

You're not an angel, You're not a queen
You're not too fat, you're not too lean
I'm just a man, You're just a woman
We're in love

about

peter zeldow Chicago, Illinois

The delivery is understated, but the storytelling packs an emotional wallop that rewards careful listening. ... more
